Nintendo’s latest fiscal year earnings report reveals that the Switch has shipped 2.74 million units worldwide. This exceeds the estimates from Superdata, which had it estimated about 2.4 million, as well as Nintendo’s own expectations.
Interestingly, 2.76 million Switch copies of Zelda: Breath of the Wild were sold. Nintendo has previously speculated that this was due to players buying one copy to play, and a second to keep as a mint condition collectors item, although 2.76 million copies doesn’t say much for it’s rarity value.
Ninty also had a good year for the 3DS, with hardware sales up 7% on the same period last year, and 3DS software up 14%.
