Chet Faliszek, a man with writing credits that include both Half-Life episodes and the two Portal games, has left Valve after 12 years at the studio, as announced via GI.biz.

Along with Eric Wolpaw and Mark Laidlaw, Faliszek penned the aforementioned influential games, as well as both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. More recently, Faliszek worked in developer relations, chatting to studios about getting their game on HTC Vive — Valve’s VR platform.

Faliszek was quick to quash any speculation by stating there was no drama in his departure. ‘I worked there 12 years, shipped a bunch of great games and some amazing hardware and wanted to change things up. There’s no news on what’s next etc, I will let you know when that happens.’
